Equipment & Gear
by Jordan Milford Jordan Milford put six ceramic chef's knives through their paces and provided this complete write up revealing that not all ceramic knives are equal.
What brands were tested?
I want to thank the following companies for providing samples for testing: Shenzhen, URI Eagle, Jaccard, and Victorinox. The market leader Kyocera refused to participate, so I would also like to thank Bed Bath and Beyond who was nice enough to supply the Kyocera and Calphalon knives. I tested the following ceramic knives (in alphabetic order):
Our dinner at
Coi in March 2009 was the best fine dining experience we have ever had. The design of the dishes were incredible - both visually appealing as well as stunningly well-balanced flavor and textures. When ever have a multicourse meal, there are dishes that we don't like - but at Coi, all fifteen dishes we had were excellent. Service was also excellent, but the food was just phenomenal.
We ate in the lounge (because I couldn't get a reservation in the dining room on short notice) and was presented with both the dining room menu as well as the lounge menu. Coi's tasting menu ($125) consists of eleven courses, so the dining room menu lists about fifteen dishes where four selections are of the A or B type (choose one). We asked if we could do both (Tina eating one set while I ate another tasting menu with the other selections chosen). Our server told us that was definitely possible, but they also offered all fifteen courses at $155. Naturally, we chose the Full Menu.
Do you have a great pasta
To enter the contest, just go to Pastaville and submit your best recipe (or recipes). You can upload a couple pictures and a video as part of your submission to help make your recipe stand out. Once all submissions have been received, the top six recipes will be selected as finalists. They'll make the recipes, taste them, and judge them based on overall taste, visual appeal, and ease of preparation. First place will receive $10,000 while second and third place will receive $3,000 and $2,000, respectively.
If you need some inspiration, here's a simple recipe that I made the other day that uses only three or four ingredients.
