Yelp holds a lot of events that showcase local business and also get a chance for Yelpers to meet in real life and relax and enjoy the entertainment. The DC/MD/VA region Yelp community teams do a great job in engaging with both small businesses, restaurants and Yelp users. There was music, games, food and of course if you checked-in on Yelp you scored a nice Yelp water bottle.
Last week I was in Silver Spring for the event #YelpTimeWarp which was nicely themed to show different decades on each floor. Food was amazing, I really loved the Thai food from SabaiSabai in Germantown. It is very difficult when you serve food at an event vs. a restaurant but the team here did a great job with the Penang Curry and Drunken noodles.
I was happy to meet Mike Bishop- Yelp Community Manager for the Maryland area (See picture above)
The Deep Eddy Vodka folks were fun and check out their website http://deepeddyvodka.com/desktop/ its a lot of fun. Who knows what photos will show up there.
Bozzuto was a sponsor and I met my delightful colleagues from Cadence at Crown and Palette Apartments in Hyattsville
Had a great conversation with the team from Bethesda Jazz and Blues Supper Club, it seems like a very nice place situated in the historic Bethesda theatre. it's right next to The Whitney
We met the Pretzel Crisps team again. Our previous encounter with the #awesome Jalapeno Pretzel Crisps was at the Yelp Totally Bazaar at Monroe Street Market a few months ago.
I simply couldn't resist hogging some of Captain Cookie DC's delightful cookies.
Highlights:
- Loved the Velatis Caramels
- Had a chance to catch-up with an old friend James Valle
- Did you know Lebanese Taverna catering makes Chicken Curry?
- ShopHouseKitchen was really great
- Loved the ceviche from Mi Cocina. You definitely should try it, raw food that delights
- Basil Citrus jerky from Krave jerky
Parking was free at the Wayne Garage Silver Spring downtown after 6 p.m (after 5 p.m on Fridays) and on weekends. Its a really lively place. The AFI theatre was across the road. A few months ago we were at the Round House Theatre to see Anu Yadav's play "Meena's Dream".
Thanks Yelp for a great event and looking forward to more. See more reviews of the event on the Yelp event page and Mike Bishop's recap on the Yelp Blog.
